Jackets and Pants/Chaps:

Clothing worn when riding a motorcycle should provide some measure of protection from abrasion in the event of a spill. These should be of durable material (e.g., special synthetic material or leather). Jackets should have long sleeves. Also available for your protection is the armored wear.  Pants (not shorts) should not be baggy or flared at the bottom to prevent entanglement with the chain, kick starter, foot- pegs, or other items on the sides of a motorcycle.

Footwear:

Proper footwear affords protection for the feet, ankles, and lower parts of the legs. Leather boots are best. Durable athletic shoes that cover the ankles are a good alternate choice. Open toed shoes and casual shoes should not be used since they provide little protection from abrasion or a crushing impact. Avoid long laces they can get caught and cause hazards..

Gloves:

Heavy duty  gloves are recommended. They should be non-slip  to ensure a firm grip on the controls. Leather gloves are excellent, as are special fabric gloves with leather palms and grip strips on the fingers. There are gloves for every season and rider.

Helmets:

The basic key to the use of a helmet is basically the simple fact that it will help to protect your face, brain, and your life. Helmets should be snug fitting and be made of certain components to protect against injury in an accident. The outer shell should be made of a thermoplastic such as a polycarbonate.
