How to measure for your helmet.....

Helmet Sizing Guide

To ensure proper sizing, please do the following:

  • Take a head measurement with a cloth tape measure.
  • Look up your size on the charts on the sizing guide page.
  • Call or email us with any questions.

Measure your head size. Pass a tape measure horizontally around your head at a height of about one inch (2.5cm) above your eyebrows.  This will measure the largest portion of your head.

Select the helmet that is closest to your head size.  Often times your head measurement may fall between two helmet sizes.  When this occurs you should first try on the smaller size.

Helmet should have a snug fit around your head yet remain comfortable for long riding periods.

Note: Sizing charts should be used only as a guide.

How to buy a motorcycle helmet. ........

Finding the right helmet is as important as finding the right motorcycle.

Step One:

Look for a D.O.T certified helmet. Wearing a helmet does no good if it does not protect you in an accident. D.O.T. certified helmets are required to soak up a significant amount of impact energy, prevent most items from penetrating the shell, and have a fastening system that will withstand significant force.

Step Two:

Your helmet  does no good if it comes off during an accident. To test for retention place the helmet on your head and secure the chin strap. The strap should be snug. Then grab the back of the helmet and try to pull the helmet forward and up to see if the helmet comes off. If the helmet stays secure this is a good retention helmet. If the helmet comes off try different styles of helmets to find the right fit for you.

Step Three:

Fit. The helmet should fit snuggly on your head. A helmet that is tight going on may fit well once it is on. The full face helmet should grip your cheeks and the side and top of your head. You do not want the helmet to wobble when on your head.

The most important thing is to make sure the helmet fits well. If you are in an accident it is recommended that the helmet be replaced as the foam will not absorb the amount of impact it was originally rated for. This means you could end up with severe injuries.
